History
Mr George Adams, proprietor of the Albury Banner from 1862 to 1918, built Adamshurst in 1891 and added a major extension in 1907.
In 1946, alterations were carried out to make Adamshurst suitable for use as Albury High School Hostel. The hostel opened in 1947 and closed in 1975.
In 1978 the then NSW Health Commission started using Adamshurst as a rehabilitation and day care centre a use which ceased in 2003.
The property is listed by the NSW Heritage Office on the State Heritage Inventory as a place of local significance and the gardens are the only heritage listed gardens in Albury.
